Join Today!

People Driven Credit Union membership is open to everyone who lives in Michigan. Becoming a member begins with opening a Membership Share Savings Account and making a $5 ownership deposit. You can also apply for a PDCU loan before joining, then complete your membership and ownership deposit when your loan is approved.

Who can join People Driven Credit Union?

People Driven Credit Union membership is available to a diverse range of individuals and organizations, including:

  • All Michigan residents
  • Individuals who live, work, attend school, or worship anywhere in Michigan
  • Employees or retirees of U.S. federal government agencies who reside, work, or report to an agency headquartered in Michigan
  • State, county, or local government employees or retirees, including those working for political subdivisions based in Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb counties

What you need to become a member

Before starting your membership application, have the following ready:

  • A valid driver’s license, state ID, or passport showing your current address
  • Your Social Security number
  • A $5 deposit to open your required Membership Share Savings Account

You may apply for a PDCU loan before becoming a member. If your loan is approved, you will open your Membership Share Savings Account and make the $5 ownership deposit at that time.

How to open your membership

  1. Complete the online application. Provide your personal information, identification details, and other requested information.
  2. Submit your application for review. PDCU will review the information you provide and contact you if anything else is needed.
  3. Open your Membership Share Savings Account. Make the required $5 ownership deposit when opening your account.
  4. Receive confirmation. After your membership is approved and your account is opened, PDCU will provide information about accessing and managing your account.

You may also apply for a PDCU loan before becoming a member. If your loan is approved, you will complete the membership process and make the $5 ownership deposit at that time.

What membership means

People Driven Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative. When you open a required Membership Share Savings Account and make the $5 ownership deposit, you become a member and part-owner of the credit union.

Unlike a bank owned by outside shareholders, PDCU exists to serve its members. Your membership gives you access to PDCU checking and savings accounts, loans, credit cards, digital banking tools, financial guidance, and other member services. As long as you maintain your membership, you can remain a PDCU member if you move outside Michigan, change employers, or retire.

Yes. If you live anywhere in Michigan, you are eligible to become a People Driven Credit Union member.

You will need a valid driver’s license, state ID, or passport showing your current address, your Social Security number, and a $5 deposit for your Membership Share Savings Account.

Yes. Every PDCU member must open a Membership Share Savings Account to establish membership and ownership in the credit union.

A $5 ownership deposit is required to open your Membership Share Savings Account and establish your PDCU membership.

Yes. Immediate family members of eligible individuals and current PDCU members may qualify for membership.

Yes. Once you become a PDCU member, you may keep your membership if you move outside Michigan, change employers, or retire, as long as you maintain your membership.

Yes. You may become a member before applying for a loan. You may also apply for a PDCU loan before joining. If your loan is approved, you will open your required Membership Share Savings Account and make the $5 ownership deposit at that time.

Certain businesses, organizations, and other legal entities may qualify for PDCU membership. Contact PDCU to confirm eligibility before starting a business membership application.

Yes. People Driven Credit Union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration, also known as the NCUA.
