The Meaning Behind Memorial Day
Memorial Day is much more than the unofficial start of summer. It’s a solemn day of remembrance dedicated to those who gave their lives in military service to protect the freedoms we enjoy today. First observed after the Civil War, it has grown into a national tradition of reflection, gratitude, and respect.
Many honor the day by visiting cemeteries and memorials, participating in parades, or simply taking a quiet moment to reflect and give thanks.
