You can start online to explore life insurance options that may fit your needs. The information you provide helps TruStage determine which coverage options may be available to you.

  1. Start the online quote process.
  2. Answer questions about yourself and the coverage you want.
  3. Review available policy options and estimated premiums.
  4. Complete any required application or underwriting steps.
  5. Decide whether you want to purchase a policy.

Requesting a quote does not require you to purchase coverage. Eligibility, coverage, premiums, and application requirements depend on the policy selected and applicable underwriting requirements.

Compare life insurance options

Different types of life insurance serve different needs. TruStage® may offer term life, whole life, and guaranteed acceptance whole life insurance. Available products, coverage amounts, age requirements, and eligibility may vary.

Term life

Term life insurance provides coverage for a defined period or until an age specified in the policy. It may be useful when others depend on your income or while you are managing financial responsibilities such as a mortgage, education costs, or childcare.

Whole life

Whole life insurance is designed to provide lifetime coverage as long as required premiums are paid. The policy may build cash value over time. Loans taken from a policy’s cash value are subject to interest and reduce the amount paid to beneficiaries if they are not repaid.

Guaranteed acceptance whole life

Guaranteed acceptance whole life insurance may be available without a medical exam or health questions. Age requirements, coverage limits, waiting periods, and other policy provisions may apply.

Coverage type How coverage works May be helpful for
Term life Provides coverage for a period or until an age defined by the policy. Premiums may change based on the policy terms. Income replacement, mortgage obligations, education costs, or childcare years
Whole life Designed to provide lifetime coverage and may build cash value as long as required premiums are paid. Long-term coverage, final expenses, or leaving a benefit to beneficiaries
Guaranteed acceptance whole life May provide lifetime coverage without a medical exam or health questions. Product limitations may apply. People who may have difficulty qualifying for other types of life insurance

An insurance professional can explain the available options, policy terms, exclusions, and underwriting requirements before you apply.

How much life insurance might you need?

There is no single coverage amount that works for everyone. Your life insurance needs depend on the people who rely on you, your financial responsibilities, your existing resources, and how long your family may need support.

When estimating how much coverage you may need, consider:

  • Income your household may need to replace
  • Mortgage payments and other outstanding debts
  • Childcare and education expenses
  • Final expenses
  • Everyday living costs
  • Existing savings and life insurance coverage
  • How long your family may need financial support

Your needs can change after major life events such as getting married, having a child, buying a home, changing jobs, or retiring. Reviewing your coverage periodically can help you determine whether it still fits your situation.

Estimate Your Life Insurance Coverage Options

The TruStage® calculator provides an estimate based on the information you enter. Calculator results do not guarantee coverage, eligibility, or a specific premium.

When to consider life insurance

Life insurance may be worth considering when another person depends on your income, caregiving, or financial support. It can also help your beneficiaries manage certain expenses after your death, subject to the terms of the policy.

You may want to review your needs when:

  • You get married or add a partner to your household
  • You have or adopt a child
  • You purchase a home
  • Someone begins depending on your income or caregiving
  • You take on financial obligations another person may need to address
  • You change jobs or lose employer-provided insurance
  • Your income or household expenses change
  • You want coverage for final expenses
  • You have an older policy that may no longer fit your needs

Employer-provided life insurance can be helpful, but the coverage may be limited or may not follow you when you leave your job. Consider how workplace coverage fits with your broader financial responsibilities before deciding whether you need an individual policy.

Before you request a life insurance quote

Having some basic information ready can make the quote process easier. The information required will depend on the type of policy and applicable underwriting requirements.

You may be asked for:

  • Your date of birth and contact information
  • The amount of coverage you want to explore
  • General health and medical information
  • Tobacco or nicotine-use information
  • Your occupation and certain lifestyle information
  • Details about existing life insurance coverage
  • Beneficiary information

A beneficiary is the person or organization you choose to receive the policy benefit after your death. You may be able to name more than one beneficiary and specify how the benefit should be divided, subject to the policy terms.

Before applying, consider what you want the coverage to accomplish and how long you may need it. This can help you compare policy types, coverage amounts, premiums, and application requirements.

Questions to ask before choosing a policy

Life insurance policies can differ in coverage, premiums, exclusions, and application requirements. Review the policy details and ask questions before deciding whether the coverage fits your needs.

  • How long will the coverage remain in effect?
  • Can the premium increase?
  • Can the death benefit decrease?
  • Are health questions or a medical exam required?
  • Are there exclusions, limitations, or waiting periods?
  • Can the policy be changed or converted later?
  • Does the policy build cash value?
  • What happens if a premium payment is missed?
  • Can I change my beneficiaries later?
  • How do beneficiaries submit a claim?
  • What information will my beneficiaries need?

Read the policy documents carefully. An insurance professional can explain the available options and answer questions about coverage, premiums, exclusions, and underwriting requirements.

Medical requirements depend on the policy and applicable underwriting requirements. Some policies may require health questions or medical information, while certain guaranteed acceptance options may be available without a medical exam or health questions.

Yes. Requesting a quote does not require you to purchase coverage. You can review available options, estimated premiums, and application requirements before deciding whether to proceed.

You may be able to have both employer-provided and individual life insurance. Workplace coverage may be limited and may not continue after you leave your job. Review both policies to understand how much coverage you have and how long it will remain in effect.

You can generally change a revocable beneficiary while the policy is active. Restrictions may apply if you name an irrevocable beneficiary or if another legal agreement affects the policy. Contact the insurance provider for instructions.
