Benefits.gov

Benefits.gov is a one-stop resource to search for direct financial assistance across sixteen categories, including food, healthcare, housing, and education. This tool is especially helpful for individuals and families facing multiple challenges, as it can connect you to federal and state assistance programs in one place.

You can dial 211 or visit 211.org to reach a nationwide network of over 200 local organizations staffed by trained professionals. They can help with housing, utility bills, food, and employment resources. 211 also specializes in crisis intervention, whether it’s keeping the heat on during freezing weather or ensuring your family has enough to eat.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

The mission of HHS is to enhance the health and well-being of all Americans. They provide information and access to public health programs, social services, and medical research advancements.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

  • Counseling Services – Speak with licensed housing counselors, including specialists in disaster recovery, rental assistance, and homeownership guidance.
  • Local Office Directory – Find HUD offices in your area for personalized support.

National Energy Assistance Referral (LIHEAP)

The LIHEAP program helps low-income households pay their heating and cooling bills. Call 1-866-674-6327 to connect with a local office.
