The 2026 Woodward Dream Cruise takes over Woodward Avenue on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Whether you love classic cars, want to introduce the kids to Detroit’s automotive history, or simply enjoy watching thousands of unique vehicles roll by, the Dream Cruise offers a full day of things to see and do.
The main event is free to attend, but many communities begin hosting car shows, parades, concerts, and other activities earlier in the week.
What to Expect at the 2026 Woodward Dream Cruise
The Woodward Dream Cruise is considered the world’s largest one-day celebration of classic car culture. It attracts more than 1 million visitors and over 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom cars, collector vehicles, and other special-interest vehicles.
The official route stretches for 16 miles along Woodward Avenue and passes through nine Oakland County communities:

- Pleasant Ridge
- Huntington Woods
- Royal Oak
- Berkley
- Birmingham

2026 Woodward Dream Cruise Event Highlights
The cars may be the main attraction, but several communities along the route have planned additional events for Dream Cruise weekend.
- Berkley CruiseFest Classic Car Parade: The parade travels along West 12 Mile Road on Friday evening, followed by a concert, movie, and activities in Downtown Berkley.
- Ferndale at Nine Mile and Woodward: Friday events include the Emergency Vehicle Show and Lights and Sirens Cruise Parade. Saturday features Mustang Alley, Bronco Corral, a kids play zone, entertainment, food, and vendors.
- Royal Oak Car Show in the Park: Memorial Park hosts classic cars, vendors, official merchandise, and a food court on Friday and Saturday.
- Birmingham Cruise Event: South Old Woodward hosts a classic car show, sponsor displays, retailers, and food vendors on Saturday.

- Nine Mile Road and Woodward Avenue in Ferndale: The kids play zone, entertainment stage, food vendors, Mustang Alley, and Bronco Corral provide plenty to explore away from the moving traffic.
- Memorial Park in Royal Oak: The Car Show in the Park offers a place to see parked vehicles up close, along with vendors and a food court.
- South Old Woodward in Birmingham: The Birmingham Cruise Event includes a classic car show, displays, food vendors, and nearby downtown businesses.
Bring hearing protection for young children. Some of the vehicles can get very loud, especially when drivers decide everyone within three blocks needs to hear the engine.

Passengers can board at red SMART or FAST bus stops along Woodward Avenue between Ferndale and Downtown Pontiac. The shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible and include bike racks.
