Carrying on a Hero’s Legacy: The Bryant Searcy Foundation’s Mission
Sometimes, the strongest legacies are built not from tragedy, but from resilience and hope. That’s exactly the spirit behind the Bryant Searcy Foundation, led by founder Sherry Searcy. After losing her husband, Bryant Searcy, in the line of duty, Sherry turned heartbreak into action, helping young people pursue education and empowering the next generation.
Today, People Driven Credit Union proudly supports this mission, helping to keep Officer Searcy’s legacy alive while investing in our community’s future.
About the Bryant Searcy Foundation
Founded by Sherry Searcy, the Bryant Searcy Foundation was created in honor of her late husband, Officer Bryant Searcy, a dedicated public servant tragically lost in the line of duty. Sherry’s goal: transform a moment of heartbreak into a legacy of hope, opportunity, and empowerment for young people across Metro Detroit.
Each scholarship awarded isn’t just financial support — it’s a tribute to a life dedicated to service and community.
Honoring a Life of Service
Bryant Searcy lived by the values of service, compassion, and resilience. Through the foundation, those principles continue to shine. Sherry’s commitment ensures that his story doesn’t end with loss, but with new beginnings for students striving to reach their dreams.
Making an Impact through Education: Foundation Scholarships
The Foundation awards scholarships of up to $2,500 to students in the Metro Detroit area, helping to remove financial barriers to higher education. These scholarships don’t just change individual lives; they strengthen entire communities by opening doors that might otherwise remain closed.
As a longtime member of People Driven Credit Union, Sherry has always believed in the power of community. This year, in recognition of her efforts and in support of her mission, People Driven proudly presented the Bryant Searcy Foundation with a $1,000 donation.
It’s a small token of a much larger commitment — standing alongside those who make a difference.
How You Can Get Involved
Empowering the next generation takes all of us. Here’s how you can help:
Donate to the Bryant Searcy Foundation.
Volunteer your time or professional expertise.
Spread the word to students in need of support.
By joining forces, we can help students achieve their dreams and keep the spirit of service alive in our communities.
The story of Sherry and Bryant Searcy is a powerful reminder that even in our darkest moments, we have the power to create light. Through education, empowerment, and community support, the Bryant Searcy Foundation is shaping a brighter future — one student at a time.
Let’s honor a hero’s memory by investing in the leaders of tomorrow. Together, we can build a legacy that lasts.

Construction loans can be complicated, expensive, and unpredictable. They often involve staged funding, contractor coordination, inspections, budget changes, and a lot more stress than people expect. Instead, People Driven Credit Union focuses on options that are often easier to manage, like traditional mortgages for home purchases and home equity solutions for improvements to a home you already own.
People Driven Credit Union does not offer construction loans.
